People Locator
Previous technology to locate people within an
industrial asset was based on a 2D representation, locating people
within zones according to x, y coordinates.
With one of its partners, VRcontext leverages the most
sophisticated platform available to deliver real-time location
awareness for oil and gas customers. It is based on ultra-wideband
(UWB) technology.
Here’s how the process works:

A small badge (tag) is associated with an object
(people or asset) containing a certain number of attributes and
linked to authorization zones, competency, and security
level.

Raw location data is generated from the tag unit
and transmitted to closely located sensors

The input signal is being geometrically filtered
by the people location application and sent to an asset and human
resource database.
In other words, the tag data input is filtered with
the application proprietary algorithms and compared with historical
values. By combining information, the application can ‘see’ the tag
(x, y, z coordinates).
ProcessLife reads the real-time tag information,
visualizes the position of the tag within the 3D virtual asset, and
generates a color-coded alert, if needed. In case of an alarm, the
people locator technology in ProcessLife gives control room
operators and plant operators a higher degree of awareness and
control.
